Ghanaian theatre group tours Sweden

Take a well-known fairy tale with European roots. Dress it up in African (Ghanaian) clothes, and play it back to Europeans. That, roughly, is the idea behind African Cinderella (Cinderama), the play with which the motley group of actors and drummers from Ghana is currently touring Sweden. Their first performance was at Riksteartern at Hallunda and the hall could not contain the mixture of West Africans and Swedes who had packed the place to see the Ghanaians perform. The tale ended happily with the surprised audience invited to join the cast on stage and dance to the modern Ghanaian music at the Prince's wedding ceremony. It was highly appreciated.

The cast acknowledges the cheers of the audience at the end of the performance. In the foreground is Fransesca Quartey, who directed Efo Kodjo Mawugbe's rendition of the Cinderella tale
