DFP to hold delegates conference in April
The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) will hold its maiden national delegates' congress on April 4 and 5 to elect its flagbearer and other national officers, the Party said in a statement on Tuesday. The statement, signed by Mr John Amekah, Deputy Secretary, Finance and Administration, said the congress would be under the theme: "Restoring National Hope and Confidence" and will take place at the Accra Polytechnic grounds. It said nominations would open for aspiring flagbearers and other executive position seekers between March 17 and March 31, 2008. Forms for presidential nominations could only be obtained at the national secretariat while those for other executive positions are available at the national secretariat and regional offices. |

Gold prices reach an all time high
Gold, which has soared to record levels in the past year, hit a new milestone Thursday, rising to $1,000 an ounce for the first time in futures trading — a boon for investors, but a deterrent to consumers shopping for jewelry. At the same time, oil also hit a record of $110.34 a barell. The dollar hit a 12-year low of 110.40 against the yen. It was 2.03 against the sterling. Ghana is second to South Africa in the continent's production of gold and 10th in the world with 2.6 percent of world production which is more than 10 times Sweden's output. |
