NPP vrs NPP: Nana's men hunt Alan's

The Daily Dispatch newspaper on Wednesday reported that some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who campaigned with flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo in the run-up to the December, 2007 Congress have set out on an agenda likely to hurt his campaign.

According to the paper, the agenda of the group is to target and subdue some of the Members of Parliament (MPs) and Constituency Executives who supported the bid of Mr. Alan Kyerematen who came up second in the race to lead the party.

According to the report filed by Ben Ephson, Editor, the group is sponsoring some leading members of the party to contest these MPs at the primaries.

The report said a couple of Constituency Executives have also been advised not to consider putting themselves up for election again.

Last Friday's edition of a pro-NPP newspaper, The New Vision, mentioned three targeted MPs - Mr. Akwasi Osei-Adjei, Minister of Foreign Affairs and MP for Ejisu Juaben; Mr. Opare-Ansah, MP for Suhum and the MP for Dormaa East, Mr. Yaw Ntow Ababio.

"The Daily Dispatch can add another one, Dr. Richard Anane, MP for Nhyiaeso."

Mr. Ntow Ababio told The New Vision that he had heard of the plots against him by some members of the NPP and that since he had no proof, he would treat the information as rumour.

He added, "I am waiting till March 1, when the nominations for primaries will open and that is when I can determine whether the information is true or false. I have been doing my best for my constituency and I know that my people will vote for me. People with divisive intentions must tread carefully."

On his part, Dr. Anane said "The NPP believes in democracy and this should be the ideology of its followers. It is common to have competition among ourselves. However, we must be cautious enough to avoid stepping on each other’s toes that will end up destroying our party."
