High provile UNCTAD conference opens in Accra

The twelfth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XII) opens today at the Accra International Conference centre. The general theme of the conference is: Addressing the opportunities and challenges of globalization for development and will be addressed by the UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon, the UNCTAD head Supachai Panitchpakdi and some heads of state including President Kufuor, presidents from Nigeria, Algeria, Brazil, Sierra Leone, Finland and representatives from many countries. This will be the most important international conference held in Ghana in recent years and decisions made at this conference will be referred to as UNCTAD XII in Accra. The conference will end on Friday, April 25.
